De Nederlandsche Bank NV ( DNB ) (German: "The Dutch Bank AG") is the central bank of the Netherlands and a member of the European System of Central Banks .

history
The bank was founded on March 25, 1814 by King William I and has the Dutch monopoly on issuing banknotes . The Dutch state has been the sole shareholder in the public limited company since 1948 . Until the Netherlands joined the European Economic and Monetary Union in 1999 , the central bank set the key interest rate . The president of the bank is at the same time kroonlid des Sociaal-Economische Raads (SER). De Nederlandsche Bank is based in Amsterdam until 1968 on Turfmarkt, since then in an office tower on Frederiksplein, which was built according to a design by Marius Duintjer from 1961. The building stands on the square of the former Paleis voor Volksvlijt . When it got too small, a round office tower was added.
In 2005 the bank merged with Pensioen- en Verzekeringskamer . In 2011 the DNB took part in the Canal Parade of the Amsterdam Gay Pride for the third time .
