Jeffrey Z. Rubin

Jeffrey Zachary Rubin (born January 21, 1941 in Astoria , † June 3, 1995 in Baxter State Park , Maine ) was an American peace and negotiation researcher.

Life

In 1963 Rubin graduated from Antioch College . In 1968 he received his PhD from Columbia University . In 1969 he began his lectures at Tufts University and was appointed professor in 1981. In the early 1980s he became head of the Center for the Study of Decision Making at Tufts University, and from 1989 he taught at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy .

Rubin was an internationally recognized teacher of psychology and negotiation. He taught at Tufts University in Medford / Somerville near Boston . He is also a senior fellow of the Program on Negotiation that Tufts runs with Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , the largest university-run research program on negotiation research in the United States. Rubin taught negotiation theory to businessmen and diplomats and was a frequent speaker at various conferences and conventions.

Jeffrey Rubin died on June 3, 1995 as a result of a mountaineering accident on Fort Mountain in Baxter State Park , Maine . In 2002 Jacob Bercovitch published a commemorative publication in honor of Rubin, Studies in international mediation: essays in honor of Jeffrey Z. Rubin .
