Jehanabad is a city in the state of Bihar in eastern India . It is the capital of the district of the same name . Jehanabad has the status of a City Council ( Nagar parishad ). The city is divided into 33 wards . It is approximately 62 km from Bihar's capital, Patna .

Demographics

The city's population is 103,202 according to the 2011 census. Jehanabad has a gender ratio of 886 women per 1000 men and thus a common surplus of men for India. The literacy rate was 78.50% in 2011. Almost 77.3% of the population are Hindus , approx. 22.3% are Muslims and approx. 0.4% belong to other or no religions. 14.7% of the population are children under 6 years of age. 10.6% of the population are part of the Scheduled Castes .

Infrastructure

National Highway 83 and National Highway 110 run through the city. No. 83 runs from Patna via Masaurhi and goes directly to Makhdumpur via Gaya . The road runs almost parallel to the railway line.
