Masaurhi is a city in the state of Bihar in eastern India . It is part of the Patna district . Masaurhi has the status of a City Council ( Nagar Parishad ). The city is divided into 26 wards (constituencies). It is located 30 km south of Patna .

Demographics

The population of the city is 59,803 according to the 2011 census. Masaurhi has a gender ratio of 905 women per 1000 men and thus a male surplus typical for India. The literacy rate was 75.0% in 2011. Almost 84% of the population are Hindus , around 15% are Muslims and around 1% belong to other religions. 15.4% of the population are children under 6 years of age. 17.1% of the population are part of the Scheduled Castes .
