Lisualdo Gaspar is an East Timorese diplomat. He has been East Timor’s Ambassador to New Zealand since 2019 .

Career

Gaspar graduated from Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTIM) with a degree in livestock and agriculture. He then completed a master's degree in public administration at the Australian National University (ANU). From 2005 to 2008 he was Deputy Secretary of the East Timorese Embassy in Canberra, Australia . From 2011 to 2015, in his role as Director for Bilateral Affairs in the East Timorese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he headed the East Timorese delegation to the talks with Indonesia on the definition of land borders. In 2016 Gaspar was Director of the Asia Department.

Gaspar worked as Director for Southeast Asia and Oceania until 2019, when he was appointed East Timorese Ambassador to New Zealand on August 13, replacing Cristiano da Costa . On November 12, 2019, Gaspar presented its accreditation to New Zealand's Governor General Patsy Reddy .
