The Ekaterinburg works ( Russian Екатеринбургский завод ), also Issetsky works ( Russian Исетский завод ), were among the largest Russian ironworks in the Urals in the 18th century .

In 1723, Peter the Great had the ironworks built on the banks of the Isset in the Middle Urals by Vasily Nikititsch Tatishchev and Georg Wilhelm Henning . Thus the tsar laid the foundation stone for the development of the city of Yekaterinburg . The dam that the two builders had built to protect the facility is still standing. The Metallurgical Museum of the Urals can now be visited on the site of the first factory .
