Brandivy ( Breton Brandevi ) is a French municipality with 1,280 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .
geography
Brandivy is located around twenty kilometers northwest of Vannes in the center of the department. Neighboring communities are La Chapelle-Neuve and Moustoir-Ac in the north, Grand-Champ in the east, Plumergat in the southeast and south and Pluvigner in the west.
history
There is little evidence of the early history of the community. Various finds (stone axes, hewn quarry stones) prove an early settlement in the Iron Age. From the 12th century it belonged to the Baronnie de Lanvaux, who was subordinate to the Rohan rule. Politically, Brandivy became an independent municipality in 1862 when it was separated from Grand-Champ. Since then, Brandivy has belonged to the canton of Grand-Champ and the Arrondissement of Vannes .
