Questembert (Breton: Kistreberzh) is a French municipality with 7585 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany , about 21 km from Vannes station. Questembert is the capital of the canton of the same name .
location
Questembert is located in the southwest of the Morbihan department inland, approx. 13 km from the coast. Neighboring municipalities are (clockwise): Noyal-Muzillac in the south, Berric , Sulniac and La Vraie-Croix in the west, Larré , Molac and Pluherlin in the north, and Malansac and Limerzel in the east.
history
In 888 the battle of Questembert took place in the municipality , in which King Alain I the Great defeated the Normans together with the Count of Rennes Judicael .

Economy and Transport

Approx. 5% of the workforce work in agriculture. Another 20% are employed in industry and around 13% in construction. Approx. 38% of the employed work in the service sector and the remaining approx. 25% in public administration including health care and social institutions.
Questembert's economy is mainly characterized by small businesses. In 2009 only 9 companies (or: approx. 1.5%) had more than 50 employees. Furthermore, more than 50% of the local businesses belonged to the service sector, and approx. 15% to the construction trade or industry.

Questembert (more precisely: the district of Bel-Air) is located on the D 775, which leads from Vannes to Redon .
The Savenay – Landerneau railway also runs through the community of Questembert. Questembert train station is in the Bel-Air district. This is where the SNCF trains from Vannes to Redon stop . The former Questembert – Ploërmel railway has been used as a cycle path since 2002.
The nearest airports are around 90–100 km away and are in Rennes , Lorient and Nantes .
The current southern end of the long-distance cycle route from Saint-Malo to the Rhuys peninsula is in the Bel-Air district .
Attractions

The 56 m long and around 16 m wide market hall was built from oak in 1675. The hall consists of a single nave with 17 cross braces. The previous building of the hall dates back to 1552.
