history
Chronicles mention the Saint-Marcoul church for the first time on October 14, 833. In the 12th century, the Knights of the Templar were the feudal lords. During the religious wars between Huguenots and the Catholic League, Carentoir was devastated. In the Middle Ages it belonged to various liege lords. After the French Revolution, the area was devastated by skirmishes between French government troops and supporters of the Chouannerie .
On May 2, 1863, the Quelneuc community was created by splitting off from Carentoir . This was incorporated back into Carentoir on January 1, 2017.
