Le Tour-du-Parc ( bret. : Tro-Park ) is a French municipality with 1231 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany .

geography

Le Tour-du-Parc is located on the south coast of the Rhuys Peninsula , between the Penerf and Kerboulico estuaries . Neighboring communities are Damgan in the southeast, Surzur in the northeast, and Sarzeau in the west. Important branches of the economy are tourism and oyster farming.

population

The population of the municipality has grown from 503 in 1968 to 1023 (as of 2007). The share of second homes was around 45% in 2007, which is much lower than in neighboring communities such as Damgan and Pénestin .

Demographically, Le Tour-du-Parc is characterized by an increased proportion of age groups 64 years and older (33% compared to 21% in the total French population), while the proportion of the age group 0-44 years is significantly lower (46% compared with 58% in the general French population).

history

In 1864, the district of Le Tour-du-Parc was separated from Sarzeau and received its own municipal administration.

Architectural monuments

Saint-Vincent-Ferrier Church

• Manoir de Caden: The current building dates back to the 15th century, but was expanded and rebuilt again and again in the following epochs. The castle chapel also dates from the 15th century.
• The parish church of Saint-Vincent Ferrier dates from the second half of the 19th century.
• There are also a number of listed buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries in the community.
