Augan ( Gallo augan , Breton Algam ) is a French municipality with 1,547 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany . The municipality belongs to the canton of Guer in the arrondissement of Vannes .
geography
Augan is 47 kilometers from Vannes and 83 kilometers from Lorient at an altitude between 40 and 144 m above sea level. The municipality is crossed by the Oyon River.
history
Augan was first mentioned in 833 as Algam (835: Alcam , 1179: Algan , 1330: Augon , 1466: Augam , 1630: Oguan ). The Allée couverte von Roherman, discovered in 1825, is located east of Augan.
