Jenő Kamuti (born September 17, 1937 in Budapest ) is a former Hungarian foil fencer .

successes

Jenő Kamuti was world champion with the team in Paris in 1957 . In addition, he was runner-up with her four more times and won bronze once. In singles he was runner- up in 1961 in Turin and 1967 in Montreal . He took part in the Olympic Games five times in a row . Both in 1960 in Rome and 1964 in Tokyo he remained without medal win. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , he reached the final round in singles, which he completed with 3-2 victories in silver behind Ion Drîmbă . He also made it onto the podium four years later in Munich . In the final round he only had to admit defeat to Witold Woyda and won silver again. In 1976 in Montreal, he was eliminated in the first round.

Life

Kamuti worked after his sporting career as a gastroenterologist , but he stayed in sport in various functions. From 1986 to 2004 he was a member of the Executive Committee of the Fédération Internationale d'Escrime and from 1992 to 1996 was also its General Secretary. From 1996 to 2005 he was President of the Confédération européenne d'escrime and from 1992 to 2005 a member of the Medical Commission of the International Olympic Committee . From 2005 he was Secretary General of the Hungarian Olympic Committee .

He is married and has two children.
