Whoever pulls the building block too carelessly loses the game

Jenga is a game of skill . It consists of 60 (in some editions only 54) identical wooden components in the shape of a cuboid, 7.5 × 2.5 × 1.5 cm in size, which are stacked to form a tower at the beginning of the game by always placing three building blocks next to each other come.

The name "Jenga" has its origins in the Swahili language , it means something like "to build".

regulate

After the tower has been set up, the other players take turns removing a stone from the tower with one hand and placing it on the top. No stone may be removed from the top level. A stone may only be removed from the level directly below if the top level above is already complete (i.e. consists of 3 stones). The game ends when the tower collapses. The winner of the game is whoever was able to place the last stone on the tower without it collapsing immediately afterwards.

material

The game, which was released in Great Britain in 1983 and in Germany in 1989 by MB and later by Hasbro , was conceived by game designer Leslie Scott and soon after its publication was one of the classics of the game of skill. The stones are originally made of wood, but there are also versions with plastic stones . However, since these are made almost perfectly fitting in contrast to the pieces of wood, the rules for building the tower are slightly different.

variants

Giant jenga

In the meantime, various variants have been established around the original game - for example in Jenga Sag's or do's! - Variations of the party game are truth or dare . Jenga Casino has black and red stones with numbers printed on them and represents a variation of gambling in the roulette sense. The variations in detail are:

  • Jenga - children
  • Jenga - Ultimate
  • Jenga - casino
  • Jenga - nostalgia
  • Jenga - say it or do it!
  • Jenga - Extreme (the blocks have different shapes and angles)
  • Jenga - Bebt (pedestal wobbles)
