Leslie Scott (game writer)

Leslie Ann Scott (born December 18, 1955 in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania ) is a British game designer . She was best known for the parlor game Jenga . This game was first shown at the London Toy Fair in 1983 and released in the UK that same year. The game was released in Germany in 1989.

Life

Scott grew up in Ghana , Kenya and Sierra Leone . After attending school in these countries, she moved to Oxford , England , to study there. There she met her future husband Fritz Vollrath, an Oxford zoology professor. The couple have two children.

Even though she now mostly lives in Oxford, she feels very connected to Africa , which she describes as her home. She has a second home in Laikipia, Kenya and is fluent in Swahili .

Leslie Scott founded the game manufacturer Oxford Games Ltd in 1991 . She received the Wonder Women of Toys Inventor / Designer Award in 2010 and the Tagie award for Excellence in Game Design in 2012.
