Jennerstier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Jennerstier is an annual ski mountaineering competition held by the German Alpine Club (DAV) on the Jenner near Berchtesgaden . For several years the race has been part of the DAV Skitouring Cup and since 2008 it has also been part of the Austria Skitourcup astc. As part of the Jennerstier, German championships in the single and team disciplines have already been held.

The race was held for the first time in 2006. The local organizer is the Berchtesgaden DAV section .

The race track of the long lap is about 2000 meters of ascent and about 1400 meters of descent, the short route is about 1,300 meters of ascent and 700 meters of descent. Both routes start at the Jennerbahn valley station. First, both routes run over the ski slope, middle station, Beckhang, the small Spinnergraben to the mountain station and, depending on the conditions, to the Jennergipfel. From here, both routes lead through the large Spinnergraben to the finish at the middle station (short route), but from here the long distance riders have to do a second lap up to the Jennergipfel before they finally reach the finish.

After an inspection by the International Association for Ski Mountaineering (ISMF) in 2010, the Jenner bull is included in the international racing calendar as a "homologated race" for the first time in the 2011 season and runners can collect world ranking points here. This means that the Jennerstier will be the first ever German ski touring race to be certified for a World Cup race and will be able to advance to this top international racing class from the 2012 season.
