Jenni Mari Vartiainen (born March 20, 1983 in Kuopio ) is a Finnish pop singer .

Live and act

She first achieved fame in 2002 through the TV casting show Popstars , in which she made it from over 450 participants to the girl group Gimmel . The band released two successful studio albums and five singles and received Emma awards in three categories. The band broke up in 2004.

Jenni, however, decided to continue making music and recorded her first solo album called Ihmisten edessä ("in front of people") between 2005 and 2007 , which was released on September 12, 2007. From this she brought four singles onto the market: Tunnoton (“Stunned”), Ihmisten edessä , Toinen (“Another”) & Mustaa kahvia (“Black Coffee”). As of 2008, she sold over 65,000 copies of the album and received a platinum record .

Jenni Vartiainen describes her songs as melodramatic pop songs. The style of the songs on her debut album varies from song to song; from calm electro-pop, to dynamic rock, to the Tunnoton played only with acoustic guitar and banjo .

Jenni Vartiainen's second album "Seili" followed in April 2010. The album reached double platinum in the first week with 45,000 copies sold. The first single En haluu kuolla tänä yönä ("I don't want to die tonight") also reached the top of the Finnish singles charts. The second single was "Nettiin" and reached number 12 in the ranking. The album has been in the Finnish album top 10 for 57 weeks since April 2010, with the highest position at number 1 and the lowest at number 9. The third single, Missä muruseni on ("Wo ist mein Schatz? ") reached first place in the Finnish singles chart without a physical single. The album has now sold 125,000 times and has thus achieved triple platinum status.
