life and work

Life

Jennifer Rees Larcombe is the daughter of preacher Tom Rees and grew up around the Hildenborough Gospel Hall in Kent . Their home is Tunbridge Wells .

She wrote her first books from stories she had previously told her own children. Her children's books, which have been published since the 1960s, have been translated into several languages. Her youth book Der Fluch von Schwarzeneck (1967) was published in Germany with Horst Marquardt as the narrator and as a radio play ( Der Meisterschuss , 1974). In her children's Bible she shows Jesus Christ as a loving person with no rough edges.

Rees Larcombe suffered from viral meningitis from 1982, which confined her to a wheelchair. Before the diagnosis, she had long repressed the disease. In the hospital, she then reports on a near-death experience . She received a disability pension. Attending many Christian healing services did not lead to the desired result. She began to comfort and encourage others and wrote the book Beyond Healing (which means: More Than Healing ). The illness ended with no prior signs of recovery after eight years. She attributes this recovery to a prayer of a Christian woman who was converted only a month ago. The stresses of the disease led to her divorce from her husband Tony, with whom she has six children.
