Jens Neundorff von Enzberg (born 1966 in Ilmenau / Thuringia ) is a German theater director , opera director and dramaturge .

Life

Neundorff von Enzberg studied musicology , theater marketing and cultural studies in Berlin and Leipzig. After completing his studies, he worked as a dramaturge for all branches at the Meininger Theater since 1992. After four years he again moved to the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden as a dramaturge , and in 2000 he advanced to the Bonn Theater as chief dramaturge for music theater and dance at the Bonn Opera. For eight years he directed “Bonn Chance!” A large-scale, important experimental music theater series from Bonn. As a guest dramaturge he was in charge of Mozart's opera “ Mitridate, re di Ponto ” at the Salzburg Festival in 2005 , was a scholarship holder of the Bayreuth Festival and wrote articles in numerous classical music magazines. In 2007 he took over the position of opera director at the Braunschweig State Theater . He commissioned some world premieres from composers such as Hans Werner Henze , Aribert Reimann , Detlev Müller-Siemens , Reinhard Febel , Steffen Schleiermacher , Jan Müller-Wieland , Wladimir Tarnopolski and Helmut Oehring .

From the 2012/2013 season he became the artistic director at the Regensburg Theater , which comprises five branches. With innovative approaches such as the world premiere of the opera “Run Lola Run” by Ludger Vollmer in the first season, he succeeded in significantly increasing the number of visitors and subscribers. As recently as December 2019, Bayerischer Rundfunk reported that an extension of the current director's contract until 2027 had been agreed. In order to take over the position of artistic director as the successor to Ansgar Haag at the Meininger Staatstheater from the 2021/2022 season, he prematurely terminated his contract in Regensburg that ran until 2022.
