Jens Scharping (born July 16, 1974 in Hamburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The striker began his career at Eimsbütteler TV , for which he played from 1986 to 1993. He then moved to FC St. Pauli , for whom he played 46 Bundesliga games between 1995 and 1997 , scoring 12 goals. In the 1998/1999 season he played for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the 2nd Bundesliga , but was only able to record ten missions and remained without a goal.

He played for 1. SC Norderstedt and Lüneburger SK for the next two years before moving to VfB Lübeck in 2001 . By 2004 he had 111 second division games and 35 goals. He then moved to Alemannia Aachen , for which he played a total of 23 games in the 2004/2005 season, scoring three goals and gaining experience in the UEFA Cup .

In the winter break of 2005/06 Scharping, who was hardly taken into account by coach Dieter Hecking at the end, moved back to FC St. Pauli. But even in St. Pauli he could not build on his old achievements, so that his contract was not extended after the team rose. As a result, Scharping ended his career in 2006/07.
