Jeremy Thorp

Jeremy Walter Thorp CMG (born December 12, 1941 ) is a former British diplomat .

Thorp attended King Edward VII School in Sheffield and entered the foreign service in 1981. From 1981 to 1982 Thorp worked in the Joint Nuclear Unit in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). From 1982 to 1986 Thorp headed the Consulate General in Lima. From 1986 to 1997 Thorp held various positions in the FCO.

From 1998 to 2001 Thorp served as the British ambassador to Colombia. For the New Year 2001 Thorp was inducted into the Order of St Michael and St George .

From August 2002 to January 2006, Thorp was Director of the Financial Crimes Division of the British Bankers' Association and Secretary of the Joint Money Laundering Steering Group .

Jeremy Thorp serves on the board of the British-Colombian Chamber of Commerce.

Thorp has been married since 1973.
