The Jerma ( Serbian - Cyrillic Јерма ) or Erma ( Bulgarian Ерма ) is a river in Serbia and Bulgaria with a total length of 74 km. The source is located near Lake Vlasina in the south-east Serbian highlands. From there, the river runs north and crosses the border with Bulgaria at Strezimirovci . After 26 km the Jerma reaches the Serbian border again and flows into the Nišava near the town of Pirot . The Jerma forms a canyon in both Serbia and Bulgaria. On the banks of the Jerma is the Poganovo Monastery .

The river has given its name to Erma Knoll , a mountain on Livingston Island in Antarctica , since 2005 .
