Jermaine Taylor (born January 14, 1985 in Portland ) is a Jamaican soccer player.

Life

Jermaine Taylor made a name for himself as a teenager when he played with his younger brother Ricardo for St. George's SC from Portland before the club was promoted to the professional league. He also played on the St. Mary Technical High School soccer team.

His older cousin Fabian Taylor is also a soccer player and played in the North American professional league Major League Soccer (MLS).

Club career

Jermaine Taylor moved to the professional league for the Jamaican capital club Harbor View FC in 2004 , for which his cousin Fabian also played at the time. Taylor won the Jamaican Championship and the CFU Club Championship in 2007 with Harbor View in the 2006/07 season . After not being used at Harbor View for some time, he returned to the National Premier League , the highest Jamaican league , in 2009 League, promoted St. George's SC and stayed there until he was signed on February 16, 2011 by the US MLS team Houston Dynamo .

On January 22, 2016, Taylor signed a contract with the Portland Timbers , who had previously selected him in the 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft . A year later he moved to Minnesota United .

National team

After moving to Harbor View, Taylor was appointed to the U20 national team.

He has played for the Jamaican national soccer team since 2005 and was part of the Jamaican squad that won the Caribbean Cup in 2005. He was also appointed to the team for the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup . After a national team break of several months, he made the leap back into the team in 2009. In 2010 he won the Caribbean Cup for the second time with the Reggae Boyz . He also played for the Jamaican national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011 .
