Group C
For the group games, a qualification between the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands was planned. The Turks and Caicos Islands withdrew, however, so that the Bahamas would have qualified for the group games without a fight. The Bahamas later withdrew and were replaced by Guyana, which was originally intended to qualify for Group D against Suriname. Shortly before the start of the group games, the Dominican Republic, the Netherlands Antilles and Guyana withdrew. This made Cuba the only team in Group C to qualify for the knockout phase. Overall, only eleven teams reached the knockout phase. All games were scheduled in Cuba .
