The Barbados National Stadium is a football stadium with an athletics facility . It opened in 1970 and is located in the Waterford suburb of St. Michael Parish , Barbados . It is located about 4 km northeast of the capital Bridgetown . The stadium is currently mainly used for football matches.
The FIFA classified the stadium 2006 as dilapidated. It was not until 2009 that the government was able to seek a renewal. In 2011, the Barbadian government estimated the cost of the renovation at Barbados $ 2 million . It is still not clear when the work can be carried out. Ryan Brathwaite , 2009 world champion in the 110-meter hurdles , still classified the situation as unacceptable.
It was the sole venue for the 2005 Caribbean Football Championship and is the home of Notre Dame SC .
