The Cayman Islands National Football Team is the Cayman Islands football selection compiled by the Cayman Islands Football Association . She is a member of CONCACAF and one of the weakest teams there. One of the greatest successes was finishing fourth in the 1995 Caribbean Football Championship . So far, the team has not yet managed to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup or the World Cup.
Tournaments
World Championship
- 1930 to 1994 - did not participate
- 1998 - In qualifying for the 1998 World Cup in France , the team was eliminated in Caribbean zone 1 in the preliminary round with 0: 1 and 0: 5 against the Cuban team .
- 2002 - In qualifying for the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea , they were eliminated again in the Caribbean zone 1 of the preliminary round against Cuba . This time with 0: 4 and 0: 0.
- 2006 - In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany , they met Cuba again . In the first round they lost both games 1: 2 and 0: 3 and were eliminated again.
- 2010 - As part of the qualification for the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa , the team met the Bermuda national team in the first round of the CONCACAF zone . The first leg in Hamilton on February 6, 2008 ended 1-1. The second leg was lost 3-1, the Cayman Islands were eliminated.
- 2014 - In the World Cup qualification for the tournament in Brazil 2014 , the teams from El Salvador , Suriname and the Dominican Republic met in Group A of the 2nd round . You could only achieve a single draw against the Dominican Republic in 6 games and were eliminated from the bottom of the group.
- 2018 - In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia , the team was eliminated in the first round in March 2015 with 0: 0 and 1: 1 due to the away goals rule against the team from Belize .
