The Anguilla national soccer team is the national soccer team of the British overseas territory of Anguilla in the Caribbean . It is one of the weakest teams in the continental association CONCACAF . So far, the team has not yet managed to qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup or the World Cup.
Tournaments
World Championship
- 1930 to 1998 - did not participate
- 2002 - Anguilla entered a FIFA World Cup for the first time in qualifying for the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan . In the first round of the CONCACAF zone, the team played in Caribbean zone 3 against the national soccer team of the Bahamas . On March 5, 2000, the Bahamas beat Anguilla 3-1 in The Valley (Anguilla). Two weeks later, Anguilla lost again 2-1 in Nassau ( Bahamas ). The team was eliminated in the first round.
- 2006 - In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup in Germany , Anguilla had to play against the Dominican Republic's national soccer team . In Santo Domingo ( Dominican Republic ), the team achieved a respectable success, the game ended 0-0. But the second leg was clearly lost 6-0 and Anguilla was eliminated.
- 2010 - As part of the qualification for the Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa , the team met the national team from El Salvador in the first round of the CONCACAF zone . El Salvador won the first leg on February 6, 2008 in San Salvador ( El Salvador ) 12-0. The second leg on March 26, 2008 in the RFK Stadium in Washington, DC ( United States ) ended 0: 4 from Anguilla's point of view, which meant the early elimination from the World Cup qualification.
- 2014 - In the first CONCACAF preliminary round for World Cup qualification for the 2014 tournament in Brazil , the team lost 2-0 and 4-0 against the team from the Dominican Republic .
- 2018 - In qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Russia , the team was eliminated in the first round in March 2015 with 0: 5 and 0: 3 against the team from Nicaragua .
