Kerthney Carty (born February 4, 1962 in Slough ) is an English football coach . Carty is mainly active as a coach in youth and amateur football and in 2008 coached the Anguilla national football team in a qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup .

Career

Kerthney Carty, who played for Egham and Beaconsfield during his active playing career in English amateur football , has worked as a football coach since 1986. Over the years he has worked as a consultant, trainer and chief coach at Orchard Sports, Iver Heath Rovers, Burnham FC and Chalfont St Peter AFC, overseeing the U-18 selection of Berkshire & Buckinghamshire . After a trip to FC Yeading , where he coached the reserve team, he returned to Maidenhead United in November 2006 , where he had previously worked as a youth coach, and took over the reserve team there. In May 2009, Carty was introduced as the new coach of eighth division Bracknell Town , Maidenhead had previously announced that it would disband the reserve team at the end of the season. After only two games, Carty resigned from this post in August due to differences with the board of directors. Professionally, the UEFA B license holder works as a physical education teacher at Uxbridge College and the West London Academy and serves as a talent scout for the professional club Crystal Palace .

In early 2008, Carty, whose grandfather comes from Anguilla , was appointed assistant coach of the Anguilla national soccer team and a few weeks later promoted to national coach of the Caribbean state for the upcoming World Cup qualification against El Salvador . Carty has never been to Anguilla up to this point, and contact with the Anguilla Football Association came about through the efforts of Slough-based Olympic medalists Keith Connor and Mark Richardson , who went there in search of footballers with Anguilla roots. Overall, Carty was able to fall back on seven players from English amateur football, with whom he traveled to a training camp in Anguilla. In the FIFA world rankings , the national team was just ahead of last place at the time and had not played an international match for more than a year.

The away game in El Salvador was lost 0:12. The team of the island state, which has only about 14,000 inhabitants, had to do without a trained goalkeeper, instead a field player was retrained during the training camp. After the first leg in English amateur football, Carty was looking for a goalkeeper of Anguillan origin through the press. Carty did not accept the invitation of the Anguillan Football Association to look after the team again in the second leg. The reason he cited was that the association had not followed up on his suggestions regarding preparation for the second leg. His successor was Colin Johnson , who led the team to a celebrated 4-0 defeat in the US capital Washington, DC - there was no place on Anguilla that met FIFA standards at the time of the game.

As a result, he was part of the coaching staff at Braintree Town and Marlow FC (from May 2014), and in July 2015 he became head coach of the Maidenhead United Ladies , which played in the fourth-rate FA Women's Premier League . He managed to stay up with the team until his departure in 2018 and led the team to finals in the North Hants Cup and the Berks and Bucks County Cup.
