Jesús Mario Chacón Carrillo (born November 19, 1944 in Orizaba , Veracruz ) is a Mexican ambassador .

Life

Jesús Mario Chacón Carrillo studied industrial agriculture at the Escuela Nacional de Agricultura in Chapingo . He earned a Masters in Business Administration and Masters in Food Production from the University of California, Davis .

Jesús Mario Chacón Carrillo joined the foreign service in 1982. He was accredited by governments in Asia, Europe and America, ran the office of the embassy in Washington and Brussels, and served as consul general in Toronto when a seasonal worker program was conducted in Ontario and Manitoba. He was an economic attaché in Germany for four years and an economic attaché in Japan for four years. In Japan he was also an agricultural attaché for two years. During his tenure as ambassador to Bogotá , Felipe Calderón paid a state visit to Álvaro Uribe Vélez in 2006 . He was involved in the negotiations of the Association Agreement between the Government of Mexico and the European Union. In the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores he headed the department for economic relations with the EU and North America and the department for multilateral economic relations with Europe, Asia and Africa. He was concerned with economic issues for most of his professional career.
