Jesús Mendizábal (born January 16, 1959 in Mexico City ) is a former Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield .

career

Mendizábal received his first professional contract with his "hometown club" Club América , to whose first team he belonged two and a half years (from summer 1979 to December 1981), but only came to twelve appearances in the first division during this period .

For the second half of the 1981/82 season he was loaned to the second division CD Cuautla , before moving to the first division club León at the beginning of the 1982/83 season, where he made his breakthrough. In the Esmeraldas Mendizábal was a regular player and scored a total of 14 goals in the 1986/87 season. In this season he also made the leap to the national team , for which he came to five missions between January and May 1987 and contributed a goal to the 13-0 victory against the Bahamas on April 28, 1987.

Before the 1987/88 season he moved to Deportivo Toluca FC , with whom he won the Copa México in 1989 . He spent his last season in 1990/91 in the service of Querétaro FC .
