Isaiah Balaban

Isaiah Balaban (secular name Ioann / Iwan , † before 1620 ) was an Orthodox clergyman in Poland-Lithuania .

Life

Ioann Balaban came from a noble family and was related to Gedeon Balaban , who later became the bishop of Lwów . In 1597 he was appointed Archimandrite of the Assumption Monastery in Uniejów. In 1599 he had to give up the office again. He went to the Academy in Ostrog , where he managed the local printing company.

In 1606 he became the Igumen of the Trinity Monastery in Derman. In 1613 he was involved in the preparation of the publication of a theological pamphlet. The year of his death is unknown; he was mentioned as having died in 1620.
