Jess and the Ancient Ones

Jess and the Ancient Ones is a Finnish rock band around the front woman Jess, whose music can be assigned to the genre of psychedelic rock .

history

The band was founded in 2010 by Thomas Corpse and Thomas Fiend in Kuopio . At first it had seven members. After the departure of the guitarists Von Stroh and Thomas Fiend, the band today (2016) consists of five musicians. These include Jess (vocals), Thomas Corpse (guitar), Fast Jake (bass), Abraham (leopard) and Yussuf (drums). Some band members were previously co-musicians in the Finnish metal band Deathchain.

The band has released three albums so far. The self-titled debut album Jess and the Ancient Ones , released in 2012, still shows influences from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal . Jess and the Ancient Ones by Roky Erickson , Mercyful Fate , Iron Maiden and ABBA are musically influenced . Their music can be assigned to the 70s-based occult rock.

The musical style of the second album is described as a "dark, heavy sound between psychedelic, stoner and Black Sabbath- inspired 70s hard rock".
