Jesse Cook (born November 28, 1964 in Paris ) is a Canadian guitarist and composer. His music is often described as a mixture of elements from flamenco and rumba, but it also picks up on elements of other musical genres such as jazz . So far Cook has sold over 1.5 million records.

biography

Jesse Cook was born in Paris on November 28, 1964, to the photographer John Cook and TV director Heather Cook. In his childhood, Cook et al. a. in Barcelona impressions of flamenco music which fascinated him. After his parents divorced, his mother and siblings moved with him to Canada. There the guitarist attended the Eli Kassner Guitar Academy in Toronto and later the Royal Conservatory of Music. He later studied at York University and the Berklee College of Music in Boston . Jesse Cook had his breakthrough in 1995 at the Catalina Jazz Festival in California, where he was received with a 10-minute ovation before the game started. The album "Tempest", released in the same year, was ranked 11th in the Billboard New Age Album Charts.

Awards

Jesse Cook has been nominated for the Juno Awards several times in the past in various categories . His greatest success so far was in 2001 when his album Free Fall stood out as the winner in the "Best Instrumental Album" category. In 2008, Cook won silver at Acoustic Guitar Magazine's Player's Choice Award in the Flamenco category.

His album "The Blue Guitar Sessions" reached the 21st place in the Canadian album charts.
