Jessy Carlos San Miguel (born September 5, 1971 in Pierce County , Washington , † June 29, 2000 in Huntsville , Walker County , Texas ) was an American robbery who killed four people. He was executed in 2000 .

Events

On January 26, 1991, Jessy San Miguel and 17-year-old Jerome Green raided a branch of the Taco Bell restaurant chain in Irving . He locked the 28-year-old manager Michael Phelan, the 16-year-old pregnant employee Theresa Fraga, her 23-year-old cousin Frank Fraga and their 35-year-old friend Son Nyugen in a cold store in the building. After stealing some cash , he returned to the cold store and killed all four people with pistol shots.

A short time later, San Miguel and Green, about half a mile away, were stopped by a police patrol on suspicion of drunk driving. In the car, police found cash in Taco Bell bags, as well as a semi-automatic pistol, ski masks and gloves. On suspicion of a robbery, restaurants in the area were checked and the crime was discovered.

San Miguel was no stranger to the police. The 19-year-old had already been arrested nine times, including several gun crimes and a shootout. He had the booty from the robbery and the murder weapon with him, had blood from the victims on his clothes and made a confession. He was found guilty by a jury in January 1991 and sentenced to death in June 1991 . In March 1994, the Texas Court of Appeals upheld the sentence. His accomplice was sentenced to 50 years in prison.

In June 2000, San Miguel was in the Huntsville Unit with the lethal injection executed.
