history
The Jesuits came to Düren in 1628 and were among other things pastors at the St. Anna town church . Between 1670 and 1673, the Jesuit college was built in a dead end street from Oberstrasse. After the order was abolished in 1773, the newly formed congregation of the ex-Jesuits remained in Düren and continued to teach at the college. The earlier Paphengasse called impasse that led to the college, was in 1879 as Jesuitengasse to Hohenzollernstraße by the city walls broken. Today it ends at the street Am Pletzerturm .
