Now! is a German-speaking band around the singer and guitarist Michael Girke from Herford . It existed from 1984 to 1987 with a changing line-up and was continued by Girke as a solo project until 1989. It wasn't until 2019 that the band released their first regular studio album Wie es war .

history

Now! is part of the German-language music scene from Bad Salzuflen around the record label Fast Weltweit , which released several singles and cassette samplers in the run-up to the Hamburg School . Girke himself is one of the co-founders of the label. Other representatives are Achim Knorr , Bernd Begemann , Frank Spilker , Jochen Distelmeyer and Bernadette La Hengst . In contrast to these, Girke first ended his music career at the end of the 1980s. The song Come with me in everyday life was covered in 1997 by Jochen Distelmeyer's band Blumfeld .

In 2017, the recordings and demos of Jetzt! Appeared on the compilation Love in Big Cities (1984–1988) . for the first time on CD and vinyl, remastered by Tom Morgenstern. Encouraged by the positive response, Girke decided to go back to the studio. On July 26, 2019, Wie es war was released as the first regular album on Wallpaper Records . It was produced by Thomas Wenzel . The Tagesspiegel said now! then as the "best forgotten German band".
