The Jeunes UDF ( JUDF ) were the youth organization of the French party Union pour la démocratie française (UDF). It was founded in 1998. In the course of the split of the UDF, the Jeunes UDF were renamed Jeunes Démocrates on December 1, 2007 and became the youth organization of the Mouvement démocrate . The Jeunes Centristes had previously split off as the youth organization of the Nouveau Center .

history

Until 1998 the UDF was not a single party, but an alliance of independent parties. These each had their own youth organization. The party youth of the Parti républicain , the Mouvement des jeunes giscardiens ("Movement of the young Giscard followers") renamed itself in 1988 in Mouvement des jeunes pour la démocratie française (MJDF) and opened up to young UDF supporters who none of the Member parties belonged to (adhérents directs) . It later took on the name Initiative UDF-Jeunes . In 1996 it had 8,000 members.

In the course of the transformation of the UDF into a unified party (Nouvelle UDF) , the various party youths merged on November 27, 1998. Among them were the Jeunes Démocrates , the youth organization of the Force démocrate , which in 1995 became the Jeunes Démocrates Sociaux (JDS; youth organization of the Christian Democratic CDS ). Then there were the youth organizations of the Parti populaire pour la démocratie française (PPDF) and the Pôle républicain indépendant et libéral (PRIL). The first chairman of the Jeunes UDF was Jean-Christophe Lagarde . When it was founded, the organization had 15,000 members.

When it was converted into the Jeunes Démocrates in 2007, there were still 6,200 members.

organization

Anyone between 16 and 35 years of age could become a member. All members of the UDF who were within this age range were automatically members of the Jeunes UDF. Its chairman was elected for two years. The JUDF was politically independent from the UDF . Nevertheless, they brought their thoughts and suggestions to both local and national politics. The members elected their regional chairmen and representatives who represented the organization externally. The last chairman of the national JUDF was from June 2006 Jean-Yves de Chaisemartin from Paimpol (Côtes d'Armor).

General meeting

The general assembly consisted of de jure all members of the youth organization. They elected their regional and local representatives. The general assembly's tasks were to relieve the board of directors (financial accounting) and to recognize the chairman's management report.

National Council

The National Council was composed of both elected and co-opted members. Co-opted were members who were officially allowed to take part in the Conseil national, such as B. regional elected officials. The council set the political direction and determined the budget. The last CN occurred on 8/9. April 2007 together.

Bureau national

The Bureau national was the office of the Jeunes UDF. It was located in the party headquarters of the UDF in the Rue de l'Université in the 7th arrondissement of Paris .
