Yevgeny Fyodorovich Dragunov
Yevgeny Fjodorowitsch Dragunow ( Russian Евгений Фёдорович Драгунов ; born February 20, 1920 in Izhevsk ; † August 4, 1991 ) was a Soviet weapons designer.
The enthusiastic marksman Dragunow designed a. a. the Dragunov sniper rifle (SWD) in caliber 7.62 × 54 mm R , which borrowed from the AK-47 assault rifle and the Soviet self-loading rifles of the Second World War, such as the Simonov AWS-36 and the Tokarev SWT-40 .
