Jiří Panyr

Jiří Panyr (born July 4, 1942 in Prague , † November 3, 2010 in Munich ) was a German mathematician and information scientist .

Panyr, also Panýr in Czech, worked for Siemens in Munich from 1969 until his retirement . In 1985 he received his doctorate from Saarland University . The dissertation Automatic Classification and Information Retrieval - Application and Development of Complex Procedures in Information Retrieval Systems and their Evaluation is now considered a standard work. In 2003 he was appointed honorary professor for empirical human sciences at the University of Saarland .
