Jiří Schmitzer
Jiří Schmitzer (born October 25, 1949 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech actor and musician .
Life
Jiří Schmitzer is the son of the actor Jiří Sovák . In 1974 he completed his acting studies at the theater faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague . After he had previously worked in small roles in Czechoslovakian films, he was regularly in films from 1974 such as Motive for a murder , Marek, hand me your pen! and the wild boar is going to be seen. From 1985 he became a regular member of Studio Ypsilon productions and appeared in Reise nach Südwest and Katja und die Gespenster, among others.
Schmitzer was nominated five times for the Czech film award Český lev , with all of his nominations as Best Actor and two other nominations for Best Supporting Actor . He received his first award in 1997 for his portrayal of Jaroslav Svoboda in Hynek Bočan's drama Bumerang . He received his award in 2007 for his role as Richard in Jan Hřebejk's film adaptation of a poem by Robert Graves , the tragicomedy Kráska v nesnázích , followed by his leading role Vladimír in Zdeněk Tyc's drama Jako nikdy , for which he received his third award.
As a musician, Schmitzer composed several songs, wrote for theater productions, including at the Národní divadlo , and in 1997 released his first album, Recitál . He could be heard on two albums by Bratři Ebenové , Já na tom dělám and Ebeni v zahradě , and with his song Máte na to? a national success.
