The stranger Chet, who comes to camp one day, is able to free Ben.
Ben lets old Jones take him along on his way to San Francisco ; a restless journey begins, as the alleged fortune of Jones' deceased friend is stowed in a trunk in his luggage, which is to be brought to his heirs. In a robbery - Chet is also among the attackers - Jones is killed, and Ben is left with the chest in the wilderness.
The crooks are killed by an Indian: Dog's tail saves Ben's life again. Ben moves on to San Francisco with the chest, which only contains photos and letters from the old gold digger.
criticism
"Nicely staged children's film with beautiful landscape shots that does not know how to use the qualities of the literary source by Jack London."
