Jiří Winter (pseudonym Neprakta ; born July 12, 1924 in Prague ; † October 30, 2011 there ) was a Czech painter , caricaturist , illustrator and humorist. Winter was a very creative author who created more than 35,000 painted jokes in the course of his life and is thus in the Guinness Book of Records . He also illustrated hundreds of humorous books.

Life

Winter began after graduating from a secondary school at the State Graphic School in Prague. During the Second World War he was imprisoned for more than a year for stolen weapons. After the war he studied for a few semesters at the Faculty of Science at Charles University in Prague .

His artistic career began in the winter of 1948. After many years he created his artistic twin Neprakta in the person of the street sweeper Bedřich Kopecný . He later cooperated with the Czech writer and humorist Miloslav Švandrlík . Both were among the main authors of the Czechoslovak satirical magazine Dikobraz (porcupine). Together with the Švandrlík he drew for some books about the two students Kopyto and Mňouk in (Neuvěřitelné příhody žáků Kopyta a Mňouka) .
