Miloslav Švandrlík

Miloslav Švandrlík (born August 10, 1932 in Prague ; † October 26, 2009 there ) was a Czech writer .

Life

After attending school, Miloslav Švandrlík worked in several professions. After 1950 he passed his A-levels and then studied for two years at the theater faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague , without a degree . He took the position of assistant director at the village theater (Vesnické divadlo). He did his military service in the technical battalions, which had their origins in military labor camps for opponents of the regime. He described his experiences from this time in several works. After his military service, he was briefly educator for Korean children and then devoted himself only to writing.

Works

Švandrlík wrote for a number of magazines, including the satirical Dikobraz , in which he collaborated with Jiří Winter (Neprakta). He also wrote plays.
