Jianbing ( Chinese  煎餅  /  煎饼 , pinyin jiānbǐng ) is a traditional Chinese snack food . It comes close to the French galette and is often referred to as the Chinese crepe . In China, this type of bing is especially eaten for breakfast and is one of the most popular street food dishes in the country. Jianbings' dough is made from wheat and grain flour and eggs. The filling of a jianbing is different depending on personal taste and usually consists of hearty ingredients such as ham , chopped or diced mustard pickles , shallots , coriander , chili sauce or hoisin sauce . A jianbing is usually folded several times before serving. As a street food dish, jianbing has gained increasing popularity in western countries since the 2010s.
