James Arthur "Jim" Blacker (born August 10, 1945 in Leeds ) is a former English football player .

Career

Blacker, who had played in representative games for Leeds and the West Riding FA , played as an amateur at Middleton Parkside. In 1961 he had an unsuccessful trial training at Bradford Park Avenue , a year later he instead joined the youth team of city rivals Bradford City . In January 1963 he received a professional contract there and came for the first time in February 1964 as a center runner to two missions in the Football League Fourth Division , the two games against Carlisle United and Torquay United each ended with a 2-1 win.

For the following season 1964/65 he was in competition with the previous regular Mike Smith and came in the course of the season to 19 league appearances and one league cup. The club, which was fifth in the table last year, was at the bottom of the table for the entire season. After the resignation of coach Bob Brocklebank in October 1964, a club committee set the lineups by early March. Under Bill Harris , who was obliged as a player- coach in March 1965 and who led the team from 23rd to 19th place in the table, he only got one move on the last eleven match days. At the end of the season Blacker decided against continuing his career as a professional footballer and left the club.
