Geoff James Nugent (born February 14, 1977 in Perth , Australia ), known as Jim Jefferies (formerly Jim Jeffries), is a stand-up comedian , actor and writer from Australia.

Career

He first got notoriety when he was attacked on stage while performing at the Comedy Store in Manchester . He later addressed this attack at a performance, including a video recording of the attack in the performance. This performance has been released on the DVD “Contraband”. He was best known in the United States for his debut on HBO .

Jefferies performed at numerous festivals. These include the Edinburgh Festival Fringe , the Montreal Comedy Festival ( Just for Laughs ), the South African Comedy Festival, the Reading and Leeds Festivals, and the Glastonbury Festival . He has appeared on panel shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks , Have I Got News for You , The Heaven and Earth Show and 8 Out of 10 Cats . He also appeared on The World Stands Up , Comedy Blue and Edinburgh and Beyond on Comedy Central and on the radio on BBC Radio 5 Live .

Jefferies ran the podcast Jim and Eddie Talkin 'Shit with colleague and friend Eddie Ifft . The podcast recorded at Ifft at home appeared twice a week. In December 2012, Jefferies left the podcast because of work on the television series Legit . It premiered on January 17, 2013 on FX , and a second season ran on FXX on February 26, 2014. The series received positive feedback for its portrayal of mentally and physically disabled people. On May 14, 2014 it was announced that no third season would be shot.

In February 2014, he starred in the low-budget Australian film Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse opposite Australian comedians Greg Fleet and Alex Williamson. The film was released in 2015. From 2017 to 2019 he hosted The Jim Jefferies Show on the American TV station Comedy Central .

Life

Jefferies lived in Kentish Town for eight years but has since moved to Los Angeles, where he now lives. He is an atheist and discusses this in his programs. He also advocates stricter gun controls .

Together with his partner, actress Kate Luyben , he has a son, Hank, who was born on November 6, 2012. Jefferies is a fan of Fulham FC
