Jim Mitchell (special effects artist)
James "Jim" Douglas Mitchell (* 1960 in Newport News , Virginia ) is an American VFX Supervisor , the 1999 Mighty Joe for the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects was nominated.
Life
He grew up in Newport News and went to Denbigh High School . Early in his career, he worked for Interface Video , a post-production company in Washington, DC, for six years, where he became director of animation and special effects.
In 1990 he switched to Industrial Light & Magic . There worked in the following years on films such as Terminator 2 - Day of Reckoning , Jurassic Park and Mars Attacks! . In 1999 he was for Mighty Joe for the Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects nomination.
In 2005 he founded the film production company Door 44 Films in London together with Theresa Corrao .
