Jim Reid (born December 29, 1961 in Glasgow , Strathclyde , Scotland ) is a British composer and rock singer .

Life

Reid is the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain , which he founded with his older brother, guitarist William Reid in 1983. By the time the band broke up in 1999, they released six studio albums.

Reid then formed the band Freehat with former The Jesus and Mary Chain drummer Nick Sanderson and guitarist Ben Lurie. He went on several tours with Freeheat. In 2003 she released an EP Retox , after which the members of the band went their own way.

In 2005 he released his first solo single "Song for a secret" on Transistor Records and in 2006 another single "Dead End Kids", also on Transistor.

Since March 2007 he has performed again with his brother as The Jesus and Mary Chain .

Reid currently resides in Devon with his wife and two daughters born in 2003 and 2007.
