Jimmy "Baby Face" Lewis

Jimmy "Baby Face" Lewis (* 1932 or 1933) is a former American rhythm and blues singer and guitarist.

Jimmy "Baby Face" Lewis recorded several titles under his own name such as "Josephine", "Last Night (I Was In Heaven)", "Let's Get Together and Make Some Love" and "Mailman Blues" for Aladdin and Savoy (1947), Manor (1949), Atlantic (1949–51), RCA Victor (1952) and Cat (1954), accompanied by jazz and R&B musicians such as Floyd Campbell , Jimmy Lewis , Joe Morris , Taft Jordan , Tab Smith , Hal Singer , Buddy Tate , Budd Johnson , Eddie Barefield , Ernie Freeman , Rene Hall . He was also a member of the Ray Charles Singers. In the early 1960s, the last recordings were made for his own label Ment Records , on which Jimmy Lewis, Howard McGee and Bobby Jaspar participated. In 1963 he was arrested for a drug offense. He is the father of musician James Mingo Lewis (percussionist with Santana in the 70s ) and the grandfather of percussionist Mingo Lewis Jr.
