Jimmy Ekho

Jimmy Ekho (also Jamie Tiglik ; born April 26, 1960 in Iqaluit ; † June 10, 2008 ibid) was an Inuit artist who also appeared as Arctic Elvis .

Ekho was born in Iqaluit , Canada and got his first guitar at the age of five. He later performed as Arctic Elvis and sang in the style of Elvis Presley , but mostly in his native Inuktitut . Most of the time, he never sang any of Presley's songs. In his performances he always had a suit made of sealskin on. He also performed at the Festival Folk on the Rocks , a music festival in the city of Yellowknife , Canada. He recorded a CD that was published in small numbers. He later worked at the Nunatta Sunakkutanngit Museumwith historical and archaeological collection in Iqaluit. He died of lung failure on June 10, 2008.
