James "Jimmy" Fleming (born November 4, 1952 in Tannochside ) is a former Scottish football player .

Career

Fleming came as a teenager from Bellshill Athletic to Manchester United and was part of the club from March 1969 to September 1970 as an apprentice (German trainee). The midfielder did not make the leap into the professional field there. In July 1971 he was signed by Carlisle United , but was only used for the second division team at the beginning of the season in a game for the Watney Cup . From January to April 1972 he was awarded to the fourth division AFC Barrow . For Barrow he was under coach Jack Crompton on April 15 against Cambridge United (final score 0-1) in the starting line-up, a week later he came on as a substitute in the 2-0 win against AFC Workington , the game should Barrows last victory in the Football League remain. Due to two defeats, the team slipped to one of the last four places and then missed re-election to gain enough votes to stay in the league. Meanwhile, Fleming was not signed by Carlisle beyond the end of the season and then did not appear in higher-class football.
